Free speech means the right to speak out without fear of censure and abuse. This must be something that becomes the cornerstone of our societies going forward. We need to move towards a position where we can tolerate difference (see the irony here?) - and by difference, I mean different points of view.

A working class feminist (yes, we do exist), anti-misogyny, pro-science nobody who supports freedom of speech and the protection of women and children. Abusing JKR is not okay. The feelings and wants of biological males are not more important than than the safety, needs, and legal rights of biological females. Stop hiding behind trans to justify the threats of violence and sexual violence against JKR. Abusers frequently hide behind a belief, cause or campaign to justify their own appallingly bad or even psychopathic behaviour. We see you.

I know all about hatred and abuse, growing up gay in Yorkshire in the 80s and 90s. The misogyny, homophobia, and abuse of genuine trans people (who get called ‘truscum’) by some who call themselves ‘progressive’ is appalling. They found an excuse to bully and threaten women and gay people and transsexuals and pretend they are they good guys.’ I’ve seen it before and won’t take it again.
JK Rowling is brave and principled and will be proven right. After all the investigations into the gender identity mob are done, we will remember who stood against the vile threats to women and others, who took the other side, and who was silent. Thanks to all who signed this letter. We will remember.

Let be a lesson to all those who remained silent whilst witnessing the archaic actions of those around you who were screaming of 'cancellation' & even book burning campaigns. Your silence is equal to their barbaric mindsets. The witches rose up to take you down and your bullying by silence will be your legacy.
