Threatening someone with violent abuse because you disagree with them is inexcusable. Yes, you have the right to disagree but do it in a rational and civilised manner. That's how mature people communicate.

Many in the West have lost any moral superiority they may have had over the privileging of effeminate males over underserved females. You cannot ‘Self ID’ as a black person, as a woman or as a babe in nappies. But hey, knock yourselves out if you want to be a peacock. #womendonothavepenises

I am saddened that this petition even needs to exist. I am forever grateful to Jo for being such a brave and loud voice in protecting sex-based laws. I am so happy to see that lots of people stand by her. I hope that one day we will look back on this and know that we have progressed. I want my daughter to live in a world where she is not threatened by rape because she was born female and happened to speak up for her sex-based rights. Thank you.

I'm sick and tired of being told I have to uphold the opinion of others. This country used to be a great upholder of free speech. 'I may not agree with what you say, but will defend your right to say it.' I believe it was Edmund Burke who stood up in Parliament and said it.

I did not read her books and I don't agree with her in some points. But I cannot watch how she is getting buried just by saying her opinion, I don't want to see patriarchy laughing at us while feminists and transgender people fighting against each other, and want to be able to say 'I am a woman' without thinking I hurt someone by just being a woman.

I stand in solidarity with JK Rowling and against the mysogynistic hate speech and sexualized threats she, and other women, have been subjected to. I stand in defence of women and girl's existing sex-based rights, for the safeguarding of gender non-conforming children and in defence of same-sex attraction.
