The misogyny of the trans activists and their allies is made abundantly clear as soon as any woman protests in the mildest terms the erasure of women.
It should be possible to be a respectful and supportive ally of a small minority of people who have gender disphoria without erasing women, obliterating women's sport, invading our safe spaces, denying our lived experience and attacking and cancelling all dissenting voices.

It is part of democracy to criticize and analyze a movement. Whether you agree or disagree with a writer on a certain topic, you have no right to slander them, bully them, humiliate them, and wish for their death. As an aspiring writer who is female, I feel very hurt from this because I know that this treatment is based on misogyny, not LGBTQ allyship, as Rowling's comments have received more media coverage than the current purge of gay people in Russia and a borderline violent anti-LGBTQ protest in Boston. It gives me hope that many people, including many public figures, have signed this petition. I hope we can learn to distinguish between a civil debate and sexism.

The sex based rights of women do not equal transphobia. The fact that in 2020 this needs pointing out and fighting for is a chilling reminder of the pervasive creep of misogyny.
