The sheer amount of misogyny leveled toward her and other feminists who speak out is appalling, and should alert anyone to the misogyny hidden behind modern identity-based discourse.

A true champion of 'women's rights and an opponent of anyone who looks to take these rights away. The sad irony of the abuse aimed at her is frightening.

I am so grateful to J K Rowling for standing up for the rights of women everywhere. It is not transphobic or hateful to speak biological truth, and you only have to see the aggressive, poorly spelt, incoherent rant posted on 1st January to see the level of 'truth' peddled by those who viciously troll this brave and principled woman.

Jk Rowling has experienced one of the most misogynistic and abusive smear campaigns I’ve ever seen. It’s incredibly impressive that she has reminded steadfast in her positions despite such a widespread backlash.

Why is it so hard to protect women’s rights? We have little equality financially and legally. Despite this generation being the generation to fight for the rights of people and their individual identity rights, the rights of women have to give way to all else? We have to give up our rights of privacy to a man that decides he wants to be considered a woman. To that trans women, have you no respect for women who may say to you, fine identify as you like, but respect also my right to change my clothes in an environment I feel comfortable. Be who you want but, without it making any difference to you except you wanting to make a political point at my expense, give me privacy to undress where I feel most comfortable.

The debate does not make sense. Rowling spoke generously and gently about the grey areas around what happens next for women and trans people. She speaks with such grace intelligence and courage and she should not be abused for this. Hate speech is not ok. What she has discussed is not hateful. She is not trans phobic. She is a well spring of knowledge about women’s realities. She must not be silenced or cancelled.
