My whole family is opposed. In the words of my son, "There are so many reason not to put a statute in a National Park. What reasons are there to build it there?"

I say so no the Never Forgotten War Memorial Statue in Cape Breton Highlands National Park and sincerly hope that our new Liberal Govt. will not allow this project to proceed.

It would be inappropriate for many many reasons. Yes, give the money to the vets for healing, instead. Let nature remain pure and healing in that incredible spot WITHIN THE PARK.

I am not in opposition to a monument but I was on the island this summer and we visited this area. Without knowing this is where the monument was planned to be erected my wife and I concluded it was one of the most beautiful little places we had ever visited. A perfect little place to pull off the road. It was later, from locals that we found out that this is where the plan is to put this monument.....This would be a tragedy in our eyes. Great idea.....Wrong place.

This tasteless monstrosity would be impossible to ignore for miles up and down the Atlantic coastline. This is not a way to honour our veterans. It's a desecration of the beautiuful homeland they fought to preserve.

Green Cove has no ties to any battles and is in a National Park. If this monument must be built, please find a more appropriate location and actually consult with Canadians.

Be sure to also send this petition to the Liberal and NDP leaders. Elizabeth May, Green Party, is already firmly against it. I'm afraid the Conservative Party will likely ignore any oppositions to it. The Liberals and NDP must be made aware of the detriment to all National Parks across Canada if this monument goes up. Save our National Parks and Save Green Cove!
