A National Park is not an appropriate location for a monument of this kind. Perhaps the sponsors would consider changing the location to Cape North.

It does not belong there and it should not be so huge. It is also very ugly as depicted. Darth Vader meets the Statue of Liberty. Find some other way to honour our vets, like NOT CLOSING VET CENTRES!

Canada's National Parks should be about nature, not about privately funded monuments of any kind. This particular monument proposal is of a scale which is inappropriate for any natural setting. Put it in a city where it will blend in with other gigantic structures and would be accessible year round. However, I agree with others in saying that this money could be put to much better use in support of living veterans dealing with the aftermath of their military duty.

I understand this is privately funded but perhaps the money could be better spent reopening the recently closed veteran's affairs office. This location was supposedly chosen for it's geographic relation to Vimy, the same latitude, we're told. This is false. For my family specifically, this location is personal as we have scattered the ashes of a family member here. How can this spot ever be the same for us? I'm sure we're not the only family who has done this. Everything about this is wrong.

The erection of this over-sized monument in a location of renowned natural beauty is extremely inappropriate. My advice would be to forego the monument and help veterans who are still alive and dealing with the physical and emotional repercussions of military action.

I feel that as the Highlands Park has refused to maintain the cleared view sites of especially North Mountain because of a refusal to cut down trees blocking the views - then why woulf they be agreeing to destroy a "natural" viewpoint such as Green Cove.

I appreciate & respect what our veterans have done for us--I will always remember--& because of them, we have the right to say 'NO' to this monstrous 'political' monument. This same government recently closed numerous Veteran Offices in the Maritimes--ask only the veterans if they'd rather have their offices opened (to receive their needed help) or a monument to commemorate them! Cape Breton Island is valued for its pristine beauty & as the Canada National Parks Act states----"leave unimpaired for the enjoyment of future generations."

I so appreciate our vets but this monument should be smaller & outside the National Park
