Please preserve the natural integrity of the national park at Green Cove and situate a scaled-down version of a memorial in a more populated area, in a site that can be RESTORED to its natural condition, rather than DESTROY an natural area protected for all Canadians.

Please consult with the public, and acquire their approval, before tarnishing a public park with a private work.

This monument does not belong in a National Park. This is yet another political agenda by the Federal government and not based on an informed decision by the public, Canadians.

Ironically, the Never Forgotten National Memorial is all about forgetting — forgetting how the Harper Government cashiered out injured soldiers before they could qualify for disability benefits, forgetting how the Harper Government closed nine offices that served veterans of the Canadian Forces, forgetting how the Minister of Veterans Affairs treated elderly vets who travelled to Ottawa to protest the changes.
The mandate of Parks Canada is to "maintain the ecological integrity of the lands in its care, and to provide opportunities for the people of Canada to understand, appreciate, and enjoy the natural heritage that is theirs.”
If you haven’t already done so, please go to the Parks Canada website by June 5 and register your objection to this monstrous statue. http://www.pc.gc.ca/eng/pn-np/ns/cbreton/plan/NFNM-MNNJ.aspx

I'm in favour of art and tourism and memory. But we can do better than this proposal.

This is the worst idea ever. STOP. Do not ruin our landscape with a badly planned blight.

The money they'll spend on this unwanted project needs to go towards actually helping the people of Cape Breton.

Cape Breton Highlands National Park is a place for the preservation and public enjoyment of nature, not for ostentatious privately funded expressions of sentiment.

This monument is entirely inappropriate for placement within a National Park, the purpose of which is to preserve areas of natural environment for Canadians to enjoy. The monument would be much better placed looking out to sea near Halifax, from where so many soldiers departed for war. I am disgusted at Parks Canada for allowing such a non-functional structure to mar the natural beauty of the Cape Breton coastline. It is an abomination.

Public lands should not be handed out to private interests in this way.
