The City of Beloit Police Department has come to a decision to no longer have an "In memory of #23" decal placed on their squad cars. The number is the badge number of the only documented fallen police officer in the city for 150 years. It has previously memorialized Pete Larsen on the police cars since 2001.
We are looking for people to sign our petition to get the decal "in memory of #23" continued on the Beloit Police Department vehicles. We have had an attorney from our area come forward to represent us and has asked for this petition to help us legally more forward . Please sign and help our community stand for what we believe in.

Officer Larson was injuried when I was still a 1 year Rookie and died the year I went through a critical incident. If this was in my department the honor of Officer Larson's name on my cruiser would serve as a reminder that Officer Larson is reminding me to stay safe!
A simple tribute to one of your own. I understand the decals will be donated at ni charge, so not allowing them to be applied to the squad cars is an insult to your residents and to all the Families of fallen officers arpund the US.
I most certainly Want #23 put on the new Cruzers and any future fatalities To me it is a tribute to the persons fallen in the line of duty.It would be like the Wall for our fallen comrades in the Viet Nam war Of which I have friend on. They will never come back and must always be remembered
this is solely on the chief of police. He claims a committee made this decision. Even if they did, this is on his shoulders. we are very embarrassed by his actions. he went on a 2 week vacation the right after this fight started.
This decal is yes a memorial to a fallen hero but it is also a training aid to new officers showing how everything can change in a minute. It's a reminder to all cops to always be alert and remember their officer safety tactics. The city should want this to help keep it from happening to anyone else!
What better way to honor a hero!!

Please continue to memorialize #23! My father was killed in the line of duty, and I cannot express how important it is for me to know that he is remembered by his department and his community. Please do not take away this very meaningful tribute to your fallen officer.
