As the school bus stops at Commerce and Bradbury, minimal space available at this intersection, I strongly suggest for calming circle median at Commerce and Gabrielle.

My house is corner unit on the Commerce street. I often see people driving vehicles more that 45MPH, where the rule is 25MPH. Passing through people think this is a main street. A circle will definitely clam the traffic.

Also buses stop in either side of Bradbury for Elementary, middle school and high school at peak traffic times of the day. A Traffic calming circle median on Bradbury and Commerce will cause more delays during peak traffic hours

Traffic calming circle median on Gabrielle and Commerce will help reduce the speed of cars.
We already have 2 islands on either side of Bradbury and Commerce.
Based on the experience of such a traffic circle on the intersection of Gabrielle and Station Boulevard. If you need to turn left from Gabrielle lane, the traffic from New York does not stop for you. Have to wait for a few cars to pass before we can proceed. So if there is a traffic circle by Bradbury/Commerce, it will cause lot of inconvenience for residents in Bradbury to be able to navigate out during peak hours (just due to the volume of cars rushing to the station) and the street side parking on commerce which makes it difficult to see oncoming traffic from Liberty. Also the space there is minimal for a traffic circle. Please take that into consideration before a decision is taken.

I live on Gabrielle and Commerce. The traffic is getting worse. So dangerous for the children, families, and residents of our community. Cars are detouring due to the train or taking the short cut (From Frontenac to Gabrielle to Commerce) at speeds of 40mph+. This is a huge concern.

I'm tired of everyone driving through our neighborhood at such fast speeds. There are a ton of kids in this neighborhood.

I went to several of the meetings with the city and spoke with our local alderman.
The traffic circle was deemed the best option due to a couple of reasons:
1) Research has shown that stops signs are not good for reducing speeds (scary research in my opinion). They are only good for directing traffic
2) Traffic dumps are sometimes considered to be noisy for people living next to them. Plus emergency vehicles really do not like them and they need to be removed every winter for snow removal so they become expensive and time consuming so the city does not recommend them.

This is a very good idea. Also will help to make it less convenient for large tractor trailer trucks choosing to come through Commerce into our subdivision (and violate the truck size/weight limit ordinance). Thank you for organizing.

1. Finally, many people voicing their opinion to both City and Board is being heard. After denying Stop/Slow signs, its a welcome move from city to have proposed the median. I hope we will gather enough signatures and overcome any budget constraints whatsoever.
2. It would've been great if few more details, and not necessarily all, were shared about the proposed median so that residents could better understand this petition and what to expect once we get the required signatures. Like what will be the Board responsibility in all this, when/if city is going to take up this project, will this really solve the problem or reduce it to an extent, any financial implications etc,
3. There is similar progress made on Gabrielle/Frontenac by another resident where we now have no parking sign close to the intersection so that traffic can pass thru freely without drivers view being obstructed by parked vehicles and also another proposed stop sign at the same junction.
I urge all residents to attend Board meetings.
