First, I want to make it clear that I am happy with many aspects of the Amherst Central School District. However, I have concerns about the math program currently in use at Smallwood Drive School and Windermere Boulevard School. I believe that this program is resulting in my child not reaching their potential in this important field. Unfortunately, I may not have the time to go to board meetings, PTA meetings or meetings with you to discuss at length the district's plans to make corrections. Please recognize that I am concerned about the current math curriculum. While I may not know exactly what to change or how to change it, I urge you to consider the fact that I do believe that SOMETHING needs to change. I support the creation of a task force comprising at least 4 concerned parents and an equal number of district representatives to thoroughly evaluate the existing and alternative math programs.
