the translation was horrible! Please, let's make it fair and less stressful than it has to be, even if that means paying someone good money for better results!

If they are qualified, they shouldn't be forced to risk failing based on poor wording due to incorrect translation. This is Canada, where the two official languages are English and French; surely there is someone in this country that is capable of properly translating the test.

The quality of translation of the OIIQ examination last September is poor. The way it is written is confusing or were too vague.

Spread the word ! I being an English speaking nurse (also perfectly bilingual!) felt seriously under privileged writing this poorly translated exam!

I just want to point out that the questions on the french version too weren't 1) asked in an understandable manner (we had to decode what they wanted because it wasn't clearly stated) and 2) we sometimes lacked important assessment information in the case under study. Hope our voices will be heard!

The exam was very badly translated. Words used were incorrectly phrased, syntax was a mess. I didn't understand have the questions, let alone answer it! It was an absolute disaster! If we pay so much for our order to represent us, why can't they write the exam that will certify us, to be well written and phrased. Absolutely ridiculous. Truly disappointed by the system.

the questions were badly worded and gramatically incorrect. Therefore, it was unclear what was asked. This was the problem with at least 3 questions.
As an OIIQ exam tutor since 2007 and founder of Nursingsuccesseducation.com, one of my primary challenges has been preparing my students to decipher the English used on the exam. A simpler English translation would allow my students to focus more on nursing knowledge and less on English grammar and syntax.

Hi Susan, CTV news, CBC news and radio, and CJAD all did stories on the petition on Nov. 12th. The OIIQ has now received the petition, and we are waiting for their response. I am going to try to contact the ombudsperson at the OIIQ today to see if he/she has passed it on, since the envelope was addressed to the ombudsperson. There will hopefully be a follow-up story with CBC once the schools have their stats on their student success rates. I am curious to see the results of the English schools versus the French schools. I hope to have news soon.
