The parking situation at the American University of Sharjah is worsening day by day, year by year. Every year, hundreds of new students are admitted, hundreds get their license, and hundreds get a car. With cars being the major transportation means within the UAE, it only makes sense that students will have to find a parking spot to park their car within the institute.

Recently, trying to find a parking spot within the prepaid (and sometimes even free) parking areas has become a tiresome daily task. Many students end up losing hope in finding a parking spot, and park in inappropriate spots, such as the People of Determination parkings, or the curbside, which only clutters and worsens the situation.

With AUS becoming the choice of more and more people for higher education within the country on a daily basis, and more students getting admitted and therefore more cars coming into campus, the parking areas spread across the university need to be enlarged to accommodate the students studying at the institution.

This petition advances to the responsible personnel at AUS to improve the parking spots by constructing more parking spots, which can be achieved by multi-storey parking buildings, constructing unused areas for parking spots, etc. This is a student-run petition.

Digitally signing this petition will be helpful to construct a formal plea to the AUS Parking and Civil Planning Administration, since it reflects our needs as students.

Therefore, if you're like many students suffering to find a place to park their car on the daily, now is the time to act.
