Provide careers services to TCD engineering and computer science students
Trinity College Dublin's mission statement states that College is committed "to the enhancement of the learning experience of each of its students" and is an environment where "students are nurtured as individuals and are encouraged to achieve their full potential".
Unfortunately, Trinity College Dublin (TCD) is not currently fulfilling this commitment to its engineering and computer science students by failing to provide careers services and advice to these students in the TCD Careers Advisory Service.
Due to the absence of a careers advisor for engineering and computer science students, TCD students in these departments are not allowed to meet with any cousellor in the TCD Careers Advisory Service to discuss future career paths and postgraduate study. Many engineering and computer science students would really value guidance and support in determining and directing their career paths and are very disappointed that they do not receive the same careers services from the TCD Careers Advisory Service as students from other departments in TCD.
It is unacceptable that there is no careers advisor for TCD engineering and computer science students. We appeal that an engineering and computer science careers guidance cousellor be employed in the TCD Careers Advisory Service to serve the needs of all students so that College better fulfills its mission statement.
