This is such a tough topic as we all want our kids to be safe - especially at school, but increased security, metal detectors and bag revisions is like looking for a needle in a haystack and do not address the underlying causes, namely access to guns and people who have lost connection to society. Perhaps a better approach is first common sense gun control and equally importantly, teaching, from a young age, social emotional learning and promote activities that stress empathy and inclusion - as these life skills will empower every child in their life and bring outliers infrom the fray. The alternative proposed in this petition will only work to further the climate of fear and isolation of ALL individuals in this community.

We cannot let this happen again. We must get together and be proactive. Communicate.. Eyes open to anything. Use common sense. Talk to our kids in case they notice anything unusual about anyone. We must protect each other at all times. We are the adults. They feel protected on our side. Lets maximize our efforts.

We need some police presence there... it is located in exposed shopping center with absolutely no police security for our kids...
