It's not acceptable to have small children at risk. How difficult cannot be to put in a crossing.

Merton Council: the proposal does not address the problems we have repeatedly told you about over the last three years. It does not make the road safer for our children and vulnerable users for the reasons set out in the petition. It is therefore a poor use of public money - and, if your proposal goes ahead, more money will need to be spent very soon to make revisions to it. You say in the proposal and elsewhere that footfall is too low for a zebra crossing and that one cannot be installed here for technical reasons. Neither of these points is correct as we have shown in our correspondence. You say that a central refuge cannot be installed here. Yet you swiftly installed one at Sheridan Road even though the technical issues are more problematic there (crossovers and trees). We have shown that it is perfectly possible to install a central refuge outside Park Community School - yet you have not responded to our proposals for this. Further details are in my full response to the consultation.

An excellent idea. There are too many rat runs in Merton Park.

This busy part of Dorset Road definitely needs a safe crossing.

A safe crossing is feasible, and vital for pedestrians at this busy part of Dorset Road.

My son goes to Park Community School and in September my daughter is starting Reception there. Every morning when we are crossing the road we are distressed and have to wait really long till we manage to cross. No cars are giving us way, unless we jump in front of them! Why shall we risk every morning and afternoon ours and our kids life! We desperately need a zebra crossing! Our kids deserved it!

Good luck. A pedestrian crossing is vital here. A car rat running from Sheridan almost ran into us at the other crossing. With younger children at the school any further delay is unacceptable.

I support this petition for a crossing.

We often travel down Dorset Road and regularly see cars speeding by the school. On more than one occasion drivers in a hurry have made unsafe manoeuvres just by the school and the junction with the A24.

I completely support this - Dorset Road is hard to cross at that point, with speeding cars using it as cut-through and other cars trying to push out into the traffic on Morden Road.

This road presents a dangerous situation for ourselves as parents and our children which needs to be resolved with a better plan than the one currently presented by the Council.

The issue of public safety and the concerns of the community must compel the council to act immediately to avoid a serious accident or fatality, failure to do so would be viewed as unacceptable.

If people want to own a car, they need to invest, where possible in a drive and keep the roads clear for visibility. Too many cars on the road, driving too fast!

Dorset Rd is a huge danger to pedestrians, car drivers speed consistently in both directions. I have two children (6 & 9) that use the speed table to cross Dorset near Sheridan at least twice everyday. This has improved things to some extent but now it’s a lottery with cars, drivers don’t know whether to let people cross or not and pedestrians don’t know which cars will slow and which won’t. That crossing should be a zebra or pelican the one at Park school should be the same. Dorset Rd should have traffic calming islands down it’s entire length or a speed camera. Erridge road is also a death trap and should have speed bumps as a minimum, it’s the only road in Merton Park without them.

I live in nearby parkleigh road. My son goes to Rutlush. I think this is a good idea. I cross that road to go to work. My son crosses it to go to school. Don’t wait for there to be an accident, improve safety for everyone now!
