The council confirmed today that they are removing the restricted yellow lines and opening the oval parking for our use. Thank you to the 124 people who helped push this over the line. Keep an eye on the spaces during drop off because we need to ensure the new rules …

More parking spaces need to be provided for parents of clover hill state school, there are not enough parking spaces for parents and with tickets being written on a weekly basis by Queensland police and Gold Coast city council, something needs to be done to provide better parking for parents.

A few suggestions have been made

1. 2 hour parking signs along clover hill drive

2. For parents to be able to use carpark near the oval after teachers aides have left for the day.

3. The yellow line along the fence line to be removed and allow cars to park along the fence line in the car park. (There is plenty of space)

Parents are noticing that students of Sommerset are parking their cars along clover hill drive all day, when Sommerset has carparks available for their students to use.

Tradesmen from the development being built next to the school are also parking along clover hill drive all day and there are limited car spaces available for parents.

Reaching this new level of momentum proves that our community is tired of the constant tickets and lack of parking options. Now is the time to turn this pressure into action by emailing your local council representative today. Tell them to open the oval lot for our use immediately.

I support this but just do not think the yellow line should be removed. I do believe that it hinders visibility and is dangerous for people unloading their children when parking on the line.

As a prep mother of Clover Hill i amninable to find a spot unless i arrive at 2pm or sooner. I have to pvysically gonon to pick up my child and the long hill proving very hard for her little legs. 2hr parking would prevent the space being taken by others. Also the removale of the yellow lines inside the school fence. With only one road to access the parking issue is very great.

The construction of the new estate isnt helping and with somerset coming out at 3:20pm its gridlocked. Didnt anyone consider the school before approving further community growth. Its ridiculous!

Even when you get to school early (2pm) and get a 'legal' park in the school carpark, it can take up to 20mins some days just to get out of carpark.....and god forbid the days you get there late (2.40).....not a park in sight. Remove the yellow line from inside the fence and ban somerset kids and tradies from parking on clover hill drive between drop off and pick up times...this would be a great start.

The fact that the school is the one that calls the police to book us in the first place is terrible, they should be looking at ways to fix it, they also need to get somerset involved so their students know to park in their own school carparks and if they properly mark out carparks on clover hill drive it will stop people parking and leaving rediculous spaces between each car

School parking needs urgent attention. However I also believe their needs to be a second road heading out towards bonogin from the school through the clover hill estate to allow the traffic to flow in two directions. God help us if there is a fire within the school or estate - their would be no chance of getting our kids out safe.

Parents are not parking on yellow lines out of lawlessness, they are physically there to pick up children from school, especially prep students who have to be picked up directly from class, local council should be ashamed in not offering an alternative to lack of parking for parents, but profiting from families already struggling with cost of living.

Every year the parking situation gets worse.
