Dear Parents, I am Gary Fitzroy Stewart, a board member, a parent, and Jaylen Stewart's dad who plays for the 7th grade northview feeder basketball team. I was frustrated with the kids basketball season, but we can either complain about it or do something about it. I am choosing to do something. Please join me and the other board members on improving our basketball program.

Participating in sports teaches youth critical life skills and has significant positive impact on all areas of their lives. Kids who participate in sports have higher levels of confidence and self esteem. Most colleges are looking for well balanced kids, those who have good grades and participate in extracurricular activities. Todays Jr Titan is tomorrows Titan High School player.

Our basketball feeder programs suffers from a lack of interest, by the Northview High School program. We have had problems with gym time, and support from Northview High School basketball. The decision makers at River Trail Middle School at times have been extremely difficult to work with.

Our kids will benefit from a good program, if they can receive a fair opportunity to the resources available at River Trail and Northview. Please provide suggestions, comments or specific incidents that can assist us in formulating a petition to Northview Principal, Athletic Director, Superintendent and River Trail Principal. The only way we can make a difference is by getting stake holders involved, the parents. We can use this petition to highlight the most important concerns that can be addressed by the current administration.

Suggestion:

Provide voluntary community hours for the high school student to run hour clock, keep score, and stats during games.

Have high school players assist as little as 1 hour a week to work on fundamentals and mentor the feeder program for voluntary hours.

Hold Northview and River Trail accountable for scheduled gym time. These are a few of mine, please provide your.
