Please groom the cc ski trails at least twice a week and open the clubhouse on weekends for post-skiing hot cocoa. This is one of my favorite places to ski when the trails are groomed well. Thank you!!!

I thoroughly support this effort to enhance a wonderful, local resource for the community!

I appreciate the neighborhood-led activism on improving this facility.

What a great idea -- improve the community's access to and experience of an existing resource! I have thought before that it's a shame the clubhouse sits closed for the winter season, and that this golf course (like others) could become a well-loved winter highlight for its community.

Excellent idea! As a High School skier for the South Nordic team, Hiawatha is on my route to school. We used to do occasional training there and it would be a great place to go on an easy ski if Wirth is unavailable. I will definitely take advantage of the Hiawatha trail if it is maintained consistantly, as it is the closest skiable area near my house.

This would be a wonderful winter resource! It would be great to have consistent grooming and is perfect terrain for families. ~Jacob Beste, South Minneapolis, Resident, 2004-05 Biathlon World Championship Team Member

It would be great to take these two steps to improve Hiawatha. The location is ideal for those of us in South Mpls and it is a great course for beginners and families.

This would be great to have the trails groomed. There are a lot of CC skiers in the area that are driving along way to get to ski trails. Our family uses the current trails twice per week. Thanks

We're paying for that building anyway while it sits unused in winter.

Folks, especially young people, those who may not have vehicle access/are at an economic disadvantage, and diverse populations, who live in Minneapolis proper, need a place to recreate and enjoy all that the 4 seasons of MN have to offer. This includes winter sports like skiing. Grooming Hiawatha affords people this opportunity.

I learned to ski at Hiawatha almost 40 years ago. I love to ski there still when I return for a visit, although the quality has diminished. Grooming twice a week and an open clubhouse is not too much to ask for the neighborhood.

Thanks for sparking this Matt. We love skiing at Hiawatha, consistent grooming and access to the clubhouse would be super.

I live in SW Minneapolis. I would prefer to drive to Hiawatha than make the 12.5 mile trek from my house to Theodore Wirth. I like the suggestion to have a separate trail for walkers, perhaps right next to the ski trail, so that the tracks remain in better condition.

I think there's a pretty sizeable community of skiers in the neighborhood who would use Hiawatha rather than drive to Wirth.

A clubhouse and more frequent quality grooming are a must for successful Nordic skiing. Nordic Skiing creates a strong feeling of community in Minnesota and around the Twin Cites!

The clubhouse used to be open for skiers, and my family would LOVE to see this open on the weekends for skiers, hikers, again. If just hot chocolate and coffee was available, that would be OK. Matt McKinney makes excellent points that I ditto. Grooming twice a week would really make the skiing so much better and bring more skiers here. Another idea: Could there be a trail, just as long, for the walkers w/ dogs? Mary Hanson
