In today’s world, we send our young high school students to go out in face the world. The overall point of high school is to prepare to teens to become young adults and go out and face the world. Many individuals will go on to college, others will join the military, and some will start to world. The Anaheim Union High School Districts main goal is to create students with 21st century skills to be college and career ready. Despite this initiative, there is an important detail that we have yet to address.

Financial Education is a very important and practical skill that every young individual should. Students should be knowledgeable on basic money practices and terms to be able to adapt to their own careers. A wells fargo study found that 54% of millennials found that debt was their “biggest financial concern”. 83% said that personal financial challenges had a large impact on overall employee concerns according to a Society for Human Resource Management study. With the student loan debt surpassing over 1.1 trillion dollars, this raises a major question on what we teach our students in high school.

With this petition, we ask the district to listen to the concerns and push for more financial education in our high schools. We ask that the district's reforms their standards to help promote basic money management skills to prepare our students in their future endeavours.

Literally graduated not knowing how to file taxes or build credit. This is basic stuff everyone needs to know before they turn 18. Fix the curriculum.
