Little Lagoon Pass in Gulf Shores, Alabama is a cherished local water body. However, its potential for recreational use and overall water quality can be significantly improved with the addition of jetties. Jetties are structures that extend into a body of water to influence the current and tides, which can enhance water quality by promoting better circulation. They also provide safer conditions for watercraft use.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) states that well-placed jetties can help reduce harmful algal blooms by improving circulation and reducing stagnation (EPA). Furthermore, according to the U.S Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), jetties have been proven to increase safety for boaters by reducing wave action in certain areas (USACE).

Therefore, we call on local authorities in Gulf Shores to consider this proposal seriously. The implementation of jetties at Little Lagoon Pass will not only improve our community's recreational opportunities but also contribute positively towards maintaining high-quality aquatic ecosystems.

Please sign this petition if you support the addition of jetties at Little Lagoon Pass for enhanced water quality and safer watersport activities!
