As a proud alumnus who was about as active as a Sixer can possibly be, we didn't have so many charter schools disrupting the peace, and when I graduated in 2007, Independence seemed to have become a safer place to learn. It's upsetting to see such a thing happen to my alma mater, and I stand with the people signing this petition in the hopes of bringing about positive change.

IHS has enough things to worry about. They should have the high school experience they deserve. As a former athlete of the year at IHS I feel like a healthy academic/athletic environment is important to their early development.

I'm an alum (2003) and felt like it was bad back then, but this sounds like a terrible arrangement for the students and faculty. Hoping my signature at the very least will help. Best regards.

School district should get off their you know what,and start solving these problems!

We are not being exclusionary, but we need to look out for the best interests of the public school students who chose East Side

This district is supposed to serve students in public schools and not charter schools yet what it does is short the public school resources so they can be redirected to charter schools in the hopes that charter school parents will in turn support the district board members in their political paths. It is coddling to a group that they care nothing about while the other kids lose lose and lose again.

I have AP students that have been practicing until late at night or very early in the morning due to high usage of the gym. While they often find a place to do homework until they can use the gym for practice, the conditions are not ideal and the students are exposed to unnecessary stressful situations.

It's been proven that charter schools do not do a better job of teaching students than public schools. Bringing more charter schools into the district is destroying our public schools.
