Unemployment is a big problem facing immigrants in Canada. Statistics show that the rate of unemployment of immigrants in Canada is very high especially in the Quebec. This year the unemployment rate for recent immigrants is 22.4%, compared to 7.6% for native Canadians. For the immigrants living here for 5 years and less than 10 years the rate of unemployment in 15.2%. For Immigrants living here for 10 years it is 10.7%. In Quebec, however, even established immigrants have difficulty finding a job. Last year’s statistics show that the unemployment rate in Quebec was 9.2% compared to 6.3% in the rest of Canada. There are several reasons why immigrants can’t get a job like language problems, not enough experience, and the lack of foreign experience acceptance…etc. Immigrants are recruited and promised jobs through immigrant services in different countries, but when they arrive in Canada it’ a different story. The government exhausts immigrants by creating obstacles which prevent them from getting a job. The government doesn’t respect their commitment to help immigrants find jobs. Immigrants are a good resource for Quebec and Canada and most of them have skills that are extremely important in the province’s economy.
