With new cases being reported in Africa and neighboring countries like South Africa, Zimbabwe has to be on high alert. The current measures taken by the Government of Zimbabwe of banning gatherings is highly commendable. However, gaps have been noted in leaving out schools operating. Over 1000 learners at Primary school level gather in one school each day. This is a threatening situation which facilitates fast spread of the deadly Coronavirus. We are sure that the Office of the President His Excellency Dr. Emerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, the Cabinet and other educational stakeholders like World Bank Group Zimbabwe, UNICEF Zimbabwe, WHO Zimbabwe, Ministry of Health and Child Care and all diplomatic Corps in Zimbabwe will find this petition relevant and give a positive response to our call for closing of schools. This situation put the citizens in danger if we continue to leave our lives as if there's nothing happening in the world. Our deepest desire is not to wait to have confirmed cases of Covid19 in Zimbabwe so that we can start being vigilant. #WeAreFightingCorona #COVID19Zim.
