Search traffic in a residential area is completely unacceptable

This traffic catastrophe has caused me to alter and even have to cancel plans for myself and my children because I can't even leave my house to drive anywhere.

i recall metrolinx promising in town hall of 2019 that traffic will go back to original on eglinton by dec 2019, before COVID and other excuses. This is a corrupt project and you have made our lifes hell. We demand compensation. It is very clear that everybody will cover their behind, but perhaps its time for our re-elected mayor to see how one of the most corrupt projects of all times can bring benefit to its residence, rather than torture. Drivers using our streets are NOT Toronto residents. They are people who come from outside the city and seek to take the Allen back. How does that make sense to whoever "planned" this disaster?

I try to never leave the house between 3-8pm but I have kids so sometimes it’s unavoidable. This traffic choke has to stop. Doesn’t make any sense. It can’t get worse this year, it’s been hell already, but there’s no reason to make it worse now. Help us by alleviating the lane reductions around the Allen. The bike lanes right now don’t help the situation either! Too early for this!!!

The traffic in our neighbourhood is insane. Police need to enforce the traffic signage and the city needs to reroute traffic out of the neighbourhood. Can’t get in and out of our own driveways!

Stop the madness!!!!

This is beyond ridiculous already. Complete disregard everyone leaving in the area. We demand something to be done about this!!!

Ever increasing volume due to growing density has real impacts on the quality of life of residents. Limiting urban sprawl is critical as is more people using public transportation but what is the actual plan to get people out of their cars so neighborhoods aren’t devastated? What will happen whe the condos on Eglinton are finished and Yorkdale is redeveloped to accommodate thousands of people moving into areas where Dufferin, Eglinton, the Allen expressway are the main arteries for them to get in and out of their neighborhoods? Our streets will be further inundated with 24/7 traffic, noise, pollution, and a deterioration of our quality of life. Creating a livable city must be part of the plan to increase density.

This traffic nightmare is intolerable!!! It must be stopped immediately!

The traffic makes it impossible to leave our neighbourhood at many times of the day,.

As well those of us at Eglinton and Caledonia are a.so experiencing excessive traffic, lack of parking, wrong way drivers. This construction has gone on far to long with little to no accountability to those of us who live and/or do business along Eglinton. At the minimum clearly marked and designated alternative routes and traffic enforcement is needed.

Many simple short-term relief measures that should be taken immediately but so far have not: 1. Make commuters aware that left turn at Bath & Eg reopened as of last month. Need to put in place large live LED signage directing commuters to use that proper left turn. Commuters either are unaware the turn has reopened or prefer to follow what Waze says and cut through our side streets 2. Get Waze and Google Maps to take our community's side streets off their preferred routes. City of Toronto has a contract with Waze - time for them to exercise influence 3. As the petition so correctly states, get the traffic flagging officers out to Westover/Glenarden and Chiltern/Hilltop to direct traffic and navigate this mess until such time as the commuters start using the proper main streets - Bathurst & Eglinton - see items 1 & 2 above! As well, keep your eyes on the big picture. The original Council-approved plan was for 4 lanes of vehicle traffic on Eglinton (2 in each direction), restoring what existed before the LRT construction, with dedicated continuous lane to Allen northbound (not waiting at a traffic light) . Now due to cost-cutting measures they are trying to turn Eglinton into a single lane of traffic each way from Bathurst to Allen and further west . This would spell disaster given the volumes of traffic at Allen Rd. and needs to be stopped by our politicians. Time for residents/taxpayers in our community to speak up and be heard by our elected officials!

Ridiculous levels of traffic in the neighbourhood.. it’s gridlock and there is no relief. Fix this ASAP, it’s a terrible neighbourhood to drive in from 2-7pm

Not only is the traffic and congestion worsening every day. The road rage has also increased significantly. It is no longer safe to walk with my children during certain times of day, as I have witnessed more than a handful of outbursts from commuters.

It takes over half an hour at times to get out of our home and cross the 3-4 stop signs to reach eglinton.

This daily traffic jam has seriously escalated and must be seen to be believed! The neighbourhood is immobilized by it. Doesn’t the city have any traffic planners? It sure looks like they don’t.

Today I had to park 3 blocks from my house at 4:30 and walk home since traffic was completely stopped trying to get to the Allan on Glenarden, the whole block in front of West Prep school and all along the East-West cross streets south of it. I’ll have to walk back to get my car after 7pm. It’s always been backed up a block or 2, but today it was backed up past the school, almost to Aldburn Rd. and NOT MOVING since all the side streets are full and trying to get to the Allan Rd. This is CRAZY!!! My street in inaccessible from the east for 2-3 hours, twice a day, at rush hour.
