This is an appalling example of poor judgement. If anyone should be fired, it is the administrators who perpetuated this injustice.

While I am sure I do not know all the facts, I do feel that the district should have handled the issue in a different way and communication should have been better.

Mr. Burgess has been in my life the past 18 years as a coach, teacher and friend. He is the reason why I stayed out of trouble in high school, played water polo at UCLA and later professionally in Sydney, Australia. In my senior class at Coronado High School, 8 out of 9 seniors played Division I Women's Water Polo at top tier universities, thanks to Coach Burgess. Randy pushed us outside our comfort zones, showed us the pay off of hard work and shaped us into better athletes, teammates, students and people. I am forever indebted to him and his program. A guy tough as nails but would do anything for anyone. I can't say enough good things about him. These allegations are hurtful, sickening and honestly, just unbelievable. I will continue to stand with Randy Burgess no matter what and you should too.

Mr. Burgess is one of my all time favorite instructors from high school. I think it would be a disservice for current and future students to lose him!

I am CHS graduate 1969 and life long Coronado resident. I am a swimmer and have had many interactions with Randy over the years and know him to be a tough and honest man . But that isn't even the point any more. The DA refuses to prosecute. There is no case. It has ALL already been said. Reinstate the man with a generous apology

Mr. Burgess was a coach and a mentor to myself and my older sister. He was a trusted person in our life and never saw or experienced anything of question or out of line of his character. He is an honorable man and a mentor to hundreds and hundreds of CUSD students and athletes.

One could go on about Randy's outsize impact on generations of Coronado youth (even in my small graduating class of water polo players we have Stanford Alums, Eagle Scouts, Engineers, Naval Officers) but I think that would be missing the point here. Why is the CUSD the judge, jury, & executioner when the DA declined to pursue the matter? How is the CUSD more qualified than law enforcement personnel to judge on this matter?

Mr. burgess has been my coach for the past 6 years as a CAC athlete and my freshman PE teacher. He is a honest and trustworthy person who I feel very comfortable around, and believe that he should be able to come back to work to do what he loves.
