OLA management finally folded and agreed to station a permanent guard on campus starting immediately. I am relieved that our children will finally have the protection they deserve after months of stalling. Stay vigilant because we have to make sure they actually follow through on this promise.
In response to the recent incident in Nashville, we are collecting the signatures of families within our school who are in favor of a security guard on campus during school hours. Initially, we have a handful of retired police officers who have volunteered their time to help keep our children safe. It is our hope and intent that this would lead to the hiring of a full time position. While we realize that OLA is actively increasing security measures on campus through the FEMA grant, we also feel the urgency to implement change immediately. No principle or priest should ever have to explain why their child didn’t come home. If you are in support of pursuing such a position, please sign this petition. Thank you.
The sheer weight of this support proves that OLA can no longer ignore our demand for immediate safety. We are done waiting around for slow bureaucratic processes while our children remain unprotected.

My son is at OLA and I have been worried about this all week. Having someone trained there is just common sense right now.

Yes please. The world is getting too crazy and we need to do whatever we can to protect them.

With proper gate protocols in place, we may need a guard in the morning when kids arrive and the gates are open, and in the afternoon at dismissal.

I would also prefer to have the gates close at 8:30 instead of 8:15 as this is a time where they community gets to know each.
