This is absolutely a must!!! Without this department any show being filmed on "Location" would and could not happen. As well, there should be a credit position change, where the location manager should come right below the PM and the First AD. The three positions are the ones running the show.

As an LPA I've always found it ridiculous that no category for locations exists on IMDB. Like for a locations manager to be categorizes "other crew" especially given the pivotal role the LM plays on a film/TV, it's beyond ridiculous.

Without the Location Department, there would be NO MOVIES. They are the one that does all the running around trying to get the best locations to fit the demands for the screen play. They spend hours and hours looking, checking things out, talking to people and getting them to agree to let the movie team come in and rearrange their property to fit the scenes needed to be filmed. They are a Department on their own and should be appreciated a lot more than they are now...

Recognition = Respect! Given the multitude of responsibilities involved, from permits to public relations, parking logistics to pay duty officers & the general welfare of the crew on set. Along with the amount of care that goes into a location & neighbourhood well before the crew arrives to the wrap & restoration long after the crew has left. Not to recognize the members of the Locations Dept as its own category for a credit is insane & completely disrespectful!
