It is interesting the concern our members seem to have regarding THEIR screen credits. Under our new contract, associate members have been stripped of any guarantee of being acknowledged for the work they perform on theatrical motion pictures. Working in the film industry is a sacrifice to all our members. It's quite ironic our guild is encouraging all our members through a newsletter to voice our opinions via a petition re IMBD screen credits whereas the same process was not afforded their own (associate) members. I do not expect my guild to be without fault, but I do expect our labour organization to be inclusive and fair. Do the (associate) members paying annual fees and weekly dues deserve to be acknowledged for the work they do? How do you think it feels sitting in a theatre watching the credits roll for 99% of the CREW you have worked along side with for four months knowing you have been left out? How many Location Managers and First AD's will speak on behalf of their "department" @ April's AGM re associate members screen credits. And what of our Caucus reps and Executive Council weathering the storm fighting for those without a voice within the DGC.... It becomes extremely difficult to have faith in the terms "fair representation" and "fair compensation" when those signing off on these concepts would never accept the same terms and circumstances for themselves. How about a petition on behalf of your (associate) members who help keep the lights on @ 111 Peter St and meet the 1million+ in salaries within our Ontario office?

Absolutely, especially considering being one of the first crew signed & the last to wrap. An integral element of the creative & production process.
