Mr. Moustapha: On behalf of the Syrian-American community, we no longer recognize you as the Ambassador of the Syrian Arab Republic in Washington, D.C. for the following reasons: • You have failed in your mission to represent the people of Syria and to act in the interest of Syrians abroad. • You have failed to issue a rational or coherent statement to us – the constituency you were appointed to support. • You continue to support a murderous regime despite world condemnation and violation of multiple human rights agreements to which Syria is a signatory. • You have failed to respond to the pain and suffering of our brothers and sisters across Syria, who have publicly rejected the Ba’ath Party and the Assad regime. • You have failed to publicly deplore the barbaric actions of your government, thereby indicating your support and approval for the course of action the Assad regime has chosen. Mr. Moustapha, you have written your own legacy as a mere puppet in the Syrian regime by supporting the detainment, torture, and murder of your own people. Your acceptance of this situation is untenable to us. For the reasons outlined above, we hereby reject your position as Ambassador. We request that you vacate both the Embassy and the official Ambassador’s residence, as they are the property of the people of the Syrian Arab Republic. Long live a Free Syria!
