This is ridiculous, if he is being charged with carrying a piece of metal around on the streets then why has Defence force members been charged for running along rowes bay with proper weapons or running around in sydney with weapons what is the difference. If it was someone from another Culture I am sure that they would be let go scot free & an apology given to him or her for wrong doing.

Im sure an apology to the person who called the police will suffice. Should not have been charged by police after the mistake was discovered. Waste of time and tax payer money. The young mans career could be ruined.

Can't believe this bloke has been charged for training. This is ridiculous and common sense should be applied.

This soldier was simply doing what we require of him and what many of his peers are also doing all over Australia at any given time. If he gets gaoled I volunteer to do his time for him.

Political correctness gone mad.
Silly people who thought that this man was anything other than an Australian soldier training, in Australia, is ludicrous.
