So wrong in so many ways. Here we have a young digger who has enough self discipline to maintain his battle fitness in his own time and the best the authorities can do is castigate him. We should be applauding him, not charging him.

What a total and bloody disgraceful joke this is. People are burning Australian flags on the streets and walk away while this man defending our flag and nation is getting the book thrown at him. I'm so embarrassed for our country.

The day we start dragging our soldiers who are trying to improve themselves, before the courts, whilst at the same time letting people involved in known terrorist activities go free, I'll throw my medals in the river.

The "weapon" looks nothing like a firearm. Police should have handled this a lot better. Just because someone thinks they see a weapon doesn't mean they should be charged, especially when it looks like it did. This guy has my support

Not a crime. Leave our diggers alone. Give the police/magistrate more training.

The authorities reaction to this seems a bit over the top.Once they found out the facts surely a quiet word about finding somewhere more appropriate to train would have been sufficient

It is outrageous that the public and the law reacted this way, rather than professionally competent approach to the situation they have reacted out of fear and ignorance. HOW DO PEOPLE NOT KNOW AUSTRALIAN SOLDIERS IN UNIFORM?!?!?!?!

It makes me sick that a soldier is being punished simply because he has taken pride in the job he signed up for and done some extra training.

A situation happened like this (from memory about 10yrs ago in Briabane) the Digger wasn't charged, so what's the difference now? A waste of Tax Payers money to court.
