If all aspiring candidates for the ADF, whether regular or special forces, should be ok to train past their potential. I won't try for the special forces but it won't stop me training to be the best soldier I can be. Will they arrest us for that too?

Don't kick this soldier in the guts. He's going for a goal few ppl would even dare to try for (SASR / Cdo selection). He's probably already had a dressing down from his commanding officer and company commander - that's enough.

The idea of him being arrested for training is just absurd

Have followed this story closely, understood that police were doing their jobs. But once again a court system that just wants to see our armed services fail. I am currently training for the direct entry scheme myself, and partake in similar training, and I will not stop doing this. Hats off to this man.

Absolutely disgraceful that he is even having to go through this

This issue is absolutely preposterous. To treat someone who is willing to put themselves in harms way for the good of the nation in such a manner as this is downright unAustralian. We are living in the age of blind hysteria.

the police should be absolutely ashamed of themselves. What would have been wrong with saying hey mate you've just scared some uneducated lady. Just head home and you will have to use something else as a tool when in public. Pretty simple ...but no and the cops wonder why no one respects them anymore
