Illegal Fireworks in San Francisco

I have lived at my current address for thirty years.Only in the past five years illegal fireworks have become mor prevalent and the “season“ extended the random M80’s tossed June thru August. Last Fourth of July my mission East home was bombarded with enough fireworks to simulate a battle,I thought my roof would catch on fire.This went on for hours on that particular day and randomly continued thru August.I too can not afford to shelter outside my neighborhood. Also my dog is afraid to go out after 3:00 pm and on the Fourth even seditives can not keep her from tearing the walls of hous trying to hide.Please do something different this year to help me and others in my city home (near Alabama and 23rd street)

There have been fireworks every night for the last couple of weeks and on somecasesgone off very late at night. These are very large fireworks that go well beyond firecrackers. The police have not even tried to locate and stop these fireworks which seem to be originating in thePotrero Annex Area are very loud and an extreme fire danger

We must pass this. It's gotten out of control and the 4th of July isn't even arrived. It's so very scary.

To the Mayor! If you ever come across this petition, here is what I have to say to you! You are falling this city! Not acting in favor of the same people that elected you is just a lack of character. Said! We are living thru a war zone scenario and getting no help from our officials. It’s not easy for many families just vanish the city and move somewhere else. You have to make this city worth living in it. Your commitment with this city wasn’t just inside of your office, but with its people that are living thru hell out around neighborhoods. Don’t forget we pay our taxes every year. You should at the minimum listen to us. Some families are really struggling with life in this city. not being able to sleep properly, kids to care in the middle of the night animals going berserk and work awaiting in the morning. I am sure you relate to some of it, no?

These unlawful activities affect everyone and they need to stop.

Please stop the bombs going off on Alabama and 23rd st every nite. 10-1am in the morning. Kids are screaming and petrified in fear. Dogs won’t eat. This is outrageous we have to tolerate a war zone in the city I’ve lived in for 40 years. Stop it now.

I understand fireworks are a tradition in my neighborhood, but it is very difficult to bear when you are stuck home during a lockdown. I usually take the dog and stay with family out of town during the week of Fourth of July, but cannot. I am really struggling with sleep deprivation. You cannot put earplugs on a dog! This has become a public health issue.

Please do something. Surviving lock-down has not been easy for many of us, but compounded with this incessant assault of bangs and sonic booms at all hours of the day, EVERY DAY FOR WEEKS, has me near to tears as I write this. This is not celebration, it's torture. Sleep is disturbed, young children and pets are terrified. We are suffering. Our community is suffering. EVERY DAY. While I realise that there are worse things in the world, and how fortunate many of us are, we are bearing the unbearable, and we really shouldn't have to, should we? There must be some kind of solution. Please help!

This is the dumbest thing I have ever seen.

As a Potrero Hill resident for over a third of a century, I have heard amateur fireworks every 4th of July. That said, we are now in mid-June 2020 and post-midnight fireworks have been popping off nightly for weeks. But what woke me and many others in my neighborhood on 19 June at 12:50 and 12:51 AM were two explosions that sounded like bombs. They shook the house and were accompanied by a bright flash of light, the sound of shattering glass and car alarms getting set off. Dozens of people reported these explosions on multiple threads on NextDoor Potrero Hill. Last week, several blocks in Potrero Hill near me were advised by AlertSF to evacuate because a daytime fire ignited by these amateur fireworks threatened adjacent housing. With warm dry temperatures fanning embers far and wide, these fireworks pose an incendiary risk not only for Potrero Hill but for other SF neighborhoods as well.

Please do something about the illegal fireworks that have been going on in Potrero Hill area. It is so bad that my apartment shakes at times and wakes me up. It scares our cat as well not to mention the grass fire it started a couple of weeks ago. It has progressively become worse each night.

There have been a few grass fires recently in my neighborhood that were extremely likely caused by rogue fireworks.
