I understand that using blackboard is not the best for all professors. I would suggest that the minimum be a weighted/curved midterm grade entered into banner for all courses. This way, a student can see at that they are or are not performing well

This is the worst problem I have encountered with the education I have received at IIT.

I failed Calc because I didn't know my grade until it was too late

I'd also like to add that professors should have at least the same language/communication skills that IIT expects of its students

Well, professors shouldn't be teaching in a way that best suits them, it should be best suited for the students. Is that not what we hire them for? It is inefficient to ask each and every professor to do this and it gives students an unfair advantage when their professors post their grades but students in the same course with a different professor don't know their grade. The goal is preset and as far as I can tell unchangeable.

I don't think this is necessary or desirable. Not all professors choose to approach their courses in a way that lends itself to in-progress reports. Administration enforced restrictions are encumbering and limit professors from teaching in the way that best suits them, effecting our own education. You know you can always just ask them, right?
Bb training is a fine suggestion, no reason for them not to know the tools available to them... besides wasting their time in what'd probably be a boring faculty meeting
P.S. Why'd you set the goal so high? And the image quality so low? Don't use a transparent gif, it looks dreadful shared to fb..... good luck :^)

Blackboard has features for teachers to post weighted grades, and I have never seen teachers use it. This would be great for students and teachers

Some teachers are good at this, but most are not. We are a small (tech) school. There is no excuse for being inconsistent and have laid back standards.

It is unfair that many professors do not give you a progress update on your grade by posting grades to assignments throughout the semester. This makes it hard to know your progress in a class and make necessary improvements.

I wish this could've been done earlier in my time at IIT! Great petition and I hope it gets passed!
