Dear ICCL Chairman,
Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatahu.
We, members of the Islamic Community Center of Laurel (ICCL), mandate that you call a general body meeting within 3 weeks to discuss the ICCL expansion plan with the community based on the following key points:
Our community has far outgrown this current building and we need to begin expansion as soon as possible Insha’Allah.
Design Development of the current expansion plan began in November of 2024, after a contract was signed with a licensed architect with a 4 month timeline, yet no update has been provided to the community in regards to progress of this plan for the last 3 months.
We are pleased with the current expansion plan and would like to see it move forward into permit drawings and approval from the city Insha’Allah.
The current expansion plan has been accepted, appreciated, and supported by around 600 individuals who attended the November 2023 fundraising dinner as well as countless individuals of the ICCL community and surrounding Masajid communities where it has been presented. There are also hundreds of individuals who have been contributing on the ICCL ACH plan with hopes of the current expansion plan moving forward Insha'Allah.
The next door townhomes are being built and some have already been sold, with first expected move-in dates in 5 months. The longer we delay expansion planning and building permit approvals from the city, the more we increase our chances of new neighboring residents appealing for rejection of ICCL expansion plans during mandatory public hearings.

We need bigger space, community is growing, due to lack of space community is leaving ICCL, they stop coming for prayer and for programs
Please start the expansion soon, before the newly elected board interferes and delays things!

It’s high time we move on with further action/work on the project as any further delays will only place the expansion in limbo & fails to help the community impacting negatively
Brothers are praying jummah outside even with the mobile classroom. We need an expansion update ASAP!

It would be good to know what the priority of the expansion is on the new administration’s agenda. The housing development is coming up quick, completion of that will make things more challenging
