Students who studied through Open Universities Australia, at Griffith University, 2013 - Study Period 3 encountered a major problem with the final exam. Worth 50% of the total course mark, students were told there were no tricks and the exam questions were drawn from a pool of Q-stream questions (over 160 multiple choice revision questions).

It is estimated only 16 out of 50 final exam questions were derived from Q-stream - much to the shock of students. A resolution from Griffith University confirmed there was an error and based on this, a total of 6 extra marks would be awarded to each student. This is not how scaling should work and given no one even has their marks back - this has the chance to greatly disadvantage overall course averages.

Studying through OUA is time consuming and much harder than face-to-face. Many students work full time and juggle families. We would appreciate the opportunity to have the compensation reviewed again.

Thank you.

I studied a lot for this exam and the instructions given to us misguided me completely. I felt very confident going into the final exam and feel that 6 extra points is not sufficient to what I would've achieved there was no exam error!

While 6 points have been awarded, each failed exam should be reviewed on a case by case basis. Very disappointed in the final outcome.
