As a matter of fact I am on a college campus right now. One thing I've noticed is even with the freedom to wear whatever they want, most girls on this campus still manage to dress in moderation. And yes , the legitimate debate is where I think your opinion is arrogant and ignorant where as you think your view is justified. Hope you aren't expecting comfort for the rest of your life. If so you might want to stay in high school for a little while longer. Ask these 4 girls again if that is the only reason they wear them, not that it also makes them feel good about how their butt looks. You can't sit here and lie that you have never thought about how they make you look. Are sweat pants not comfortable? Or maybe just not flattering.

You have no legitimate debate. Go to a college campus and see if those girls are wearing skirts/dresses/shorts to their knees. Are they all immature to you as well? I just asked 4 girls why they wore yoga pants. Every single one of them answered, "because they are comfortable" without hesitation. I'm assuming you are a male, yet you "know for a fact" what women are thinking. But yes I forgot, you are omnipotent and know all women's motives... right...

When you feel like having a legitimate debate come back with some substance, not insulting my viewpoint. I also noticed you completely skipped every part of immaturity and not growing up. Maybe you also skipped the "partial intentions" part. I understand they may be comfortable, but that is not the sole reason girls wear them, you cannot lie about that. I know for a fact. As much as you say you aren't attacking men, it's still clear even as you try to "stand up" for men, these feelings are most obviously still directed towards them. You can't hide that. Just by saying one thing to stand up for men, you are simply covering it up, poorly. There is nothing egocentric about this. No one is trying to oppress women, grow up.

Agreed. When it's hot outside I only have a selection of the style clothing I own, and cannot afford to go but more just to fit the schools expectations. Times are really hard.

I do not believe that wearing mid-thigh dresses is dressing in a "revealing manner". I didn't say I want girls to be allowed to wear mini-skirts, I said 4 inches from the knee. Also, just because something is happening worse somewhere else doesn't mean it is tolerable here. Isis is beheading men, women, and children, so does that make a fast death (such as dying from impact in a car crash) less mournful simply because it was worse somewhere else? Two wrongs don't make a right.

1. The website didn't give me a choice on how many votes I wanted to reach, 1,000 is a default number. 2. I did not ask to wear "short shorts" I have asked for mid-thigh skirts and dresses and the allowance of nike shorts. I appreciate your condescending, egocentric post, but not all girls live to impress guys. Every guy I have ever met has said that nike shorts are the most unflattering thing they've ever seen, but many, many girls wear them. We know that guys don't care about the latest fashion. Have you not heard the saying "girls dress for other girls"??? If anything we are dressing to impress each other.
3. You must've not read my post carefully enough, because I am standing up for men as well. I specifically said that they are not animals and CAN control themselves. I made that very, very clear. I am saying that the school system thinks we are a "distraction", but girls are more than sexual beings and men are more than sex-crazed people. 4. If you honestly think that all women wear yoga pants just because they are "attractive", you have absolutely lost your mind. Once again, thank you for you ego centrism and thinking that women go out of their way to seem attractive to men, but they are actually extremely comfortable and any girl will tell you that. This is silly. Your goal is 1000 votes? What is western alamance high schools population anyways? You women all feel as if you are being held back but don't kid yourselves or any of us that you only want this changed for "comfort". You speak as if you are objectified by males when that is partially your intentions. You mean to tell me you only when yoga pants and short shorts to be "comfortable"? Not the fact that you are trying to be attractive and intentionally attract the men, maybe not all men but the ones you think are "cute" and "hot". Why do you wear make up? Is it "comfortable"? I find it quite foolish for men to respect women who dress in a revealing manner, when by doing so they clearly toss away any respect they have for themselves. One of the purposes of clothing is to cover up parts of your body you don't want looked at. Please use it that way. Also, if you claim having to wear longer shorts as a work of misogyny, you need to get your priorities straight in terms of where you are in the world privilege-wise. Women have been stoned to death over not covering their hair, and you find it apt to cry misogyny over an issue like this.

You clearly missed my entire point in the petition. Females should not have to conform and change what they are doing because men cannot control themselves. I cannot help but laugh at the fact that you think females should buy clothes that are "respectful to men". Males should be respectful to women and not "oogle" at their bodies or what they are wearing. My entire point is that females should not have to live their lives to please or "respect" men. Once again, you are perpetuating misogyny and saying that women should be submissive to men.

While I do agree that it is not fair for girls to have to go out and purchase clothes that are difficult to find in stores, I think you are grossly underestimating the effect that "4 extra inches" has on men. First, let me set the whole "man" thing straight. We are not men. We are teenage boys, and our hormones are screwing us over in a big way. I'm sure you girls can relate to troubles with hormones. (This being said, this is ABSOLUTELY no excuse for any sexual assault of any kind by a man.) However as a guy, I can say that it can be very, very distracting when a girl has a low cut top or a short skirt. Billions of years of evolution have designed our bodies to respond to bared female skin that way, or, if you're Christian, God has designed our bodies to enjoy and appreciate the opposite sex's body, and I'm sure he would not appreciate you flaunting one his greatest gifts to you around. Now, all this being said, I am not saying that all guys have no sense of morals and will and should oogle anything above the knees, but for those of us who try to restrain ourselves from sneaking a peek at bared skin, please don't make it any harder than it already is. I'm sure you can suffer through wearing shorts that come down to your knee.
A better petition for you to make would then be to the clothing stores, for them to offer more clothing that is school appropriate and respectful of men.
The point of all this:
The "men" you refer to are currently going through the most awkward sex driven times of our lives, and even the morally strongest of us have a hard time keeping from being distracted by bared skin. Women are strong, and I feel that they can, and should go through the "discomfort" of wearing shorts that come to your knee.
