Our family has been involved with Hawks Rugby Union for almost 15 years.
Iain has always been a positive influence as a player, coach, mentor & generally as a good human.
He has the most caring, gentle & compassionate demeanour. With people of all ages.

The video evidence shows that at no point did the child referred to in many of these comments punch or assault another player during the course of the game.
Adults involved in junior sport are expected to demonstrate restraint, professionalism, and child-safe behaviour at all times. Under Rugby Australia’s safeguarding and code of conduct expectations, there was no justification for an adult from the sideline or a team official to physically intervene with a child player when the referee already had control of the situation.
We should all respect the governing body’s process and investigation into this matter.
The governing body must also be careful not to set a dangerous precedent by allowing or minimising adults in junior sport physically handling children from opposing teams during matches. Junior sport must maintain clear boundaries regarding adult conduct toward children in order to protect safeguarding standards, community confidence, and the safe environment children deserve.
One would hope that both clubs can work constructively with the governing body to resolve the matter appropriately, so that both the adult and the child involved are ultimately able to return to rugby in their respective roles once the process is complete free of further public opinions. It is also important that this does not continue as an ongoing source of conflict between the two clubs at future junior rugby matches.

I played several years alongside buba at Hamilton and have no doubt he would only act in the best interests of any player on or off the rugby field.

He was doing what should be done in that situation and the kid involved should be suspended and removed from playing

Do what’s right and encourage not discourage people to stand against bullies. Well done Bubba, let’s remove this in justice and recognise him for who he is and stands for. Punish the fools not the hero’s.

Iain is a well respected coach and ambassador not only for Hamilton Hawks but also Rugby in Newcastle Hunter region. His passion and care for all players bench mark what we should all aspire to achieve every Saturday. I am not affiliated with Hamilton but having a child in the under 13 competition I know not having Iain involved is a loss to all.

To Who is may concern. I Myself was involved in the Rugby Match between the Hunter Junior Wildfires and the Lake Macquarie Roos Friendly Match. I am World Rugby accredited and affilated with Hjru Wanderers and the Wildfires Juniors. In relation to the suspension of Mr Ian Gardiner. I Strongly believe this action to be exxagerated and somewhat harsh. Based on Video recorded by the Roos (if thill available) the board can view all of the incidents. I was AR for the game. I noticed and reacted to Two other People enter the field.. One who was not affiliated with the two teams and the opposing AR. Although Mr Gardiner did try to brake up the fight or in my view which was assault and should be charged by the police. I would do the same. Mr Brian Gardr
