Specifically, the state of Michigan's work force is primarily dominated by temp agencies which take advantage of trial employees during times of the year which are convenient to meet demand. These temp agencies allow for 3-6 months of employment for workers at which the contracted company has no responsibility for these employees except how long they are needed, and everything is left to the temp agency until the 90th or 180th day. A lot of these companies contracting employees fire these contract workers as soon as their quota is met for production. With Michigan being an "At Will" state, there are workers being fired for no reason other than they are not needed anymore. Also with our state recently becoming a "Right to Work" state Unions have far less power of negotiating contracts and are forced to settle with what the companies think is fair. With policies that currently stand it leaves most of these workers out of a job and unable to collect unemployment, which leaves people without money to pay rent or bills. There needs to be state regulations for these contracting agencies, that are contributing to the unemployment and homelessness issues of our once great state. As a worker that has had his work ethics taken advantage of by these companies, and been laid-off due to an injury which required surgery. I want to put the power back into the workers hands. We are the backbone of our state and we are tired of being broken and set aside, having to wait week to week for an employment opportunity. Only to be fired or laid-off again for the convenience of an over inflated industrial ego complex thinking peoples lives are insignificant.

Michigan has the highest number of these "Temp Agencies" and contracting companies, and is by far the worst turnover rate due to these scoundrels abusing their workers. If we want our economy to rise, this needs to be fixed. This is one of many situations which I will plan to address for the people of our state. Even as a Military Veteran it has been difficult to find meaningful employment here in Michigan. This is not a state of "Industry", this is a state of "Workers" with "Agencies". We need to change that.
