BAD ORGANISED AND MISLEADING CLIENTS Dear Electric “Run” Team, I registered myself with several friends for the Electric Run on Friday 28th Nov. This was promoted as a 5 k run and costs for basic package was HKD 479 which included of a t-shirts and 2 light switches. Since 60 days HK has protests in central city “Occupy Central”. Last week Friday night I “ran” the Elect “Run”, at a certain point there was a water checkpoint so we thought “that’s nice” but it turned out to be the end already. The electric “run was in total 0.86k according to my Garmin/Strava which was only 17.2% of what was promised! I complained to an Electric Run staff member who said that it was 3 km!? A friend of me complained yesterday and you replied that you changed the last minute route because of the protests. The protests where there already for 60 days. Every professional sports organization in HK does a risk assessment before organizing an event because there are always issues (issues with villagers, land slips, weather). But this is communicated before hand to set right expectations. You clearly did’t communicate this to your clients, so you lacked doing this Since 60 days HK has protests in central city “Occupy Central” so this is not something “new”. It’s like going to a bar and selling 100 ml of cocoa cola for premium prize but only serving 17.2 ml! That’s not fair and it’s misleading clients. As a result people had the expectations of doing a fun 5k run with party but people got disappointed so Electric Run has a bad image and reputation now. I understand that you give free tickets for 2015 as compensation? I just want to financial refund for the part that wasn’t delivered to us, so that’s 80% of 479 HKD which is HKD 383. If you organise a sports event in HK do it properly and treat your clients properly I look forward to hearing from you soon. Many thanks, Dennis

Just one thing - 0.8K is just 16% of 5K! Refund!

this is probably the worst decision that i have made in my life. poorly organised. approx. 0.8km "crawl". why don't you guys just simply make it the "aia electric and neon night out"? where the heck is the run? total rip off. what? see you again next year? thanks but no thanks!

Mazarine Asia Pacific, the organizer of Electric Run in Hong Kong, totally ruined the reputation of this worldwide event! It's a scam. Not to mention their version of 5km ( 0.8Km in real life!), the courseland is even bumpy for both running and walking. They are simply unprofessional and irresponsible.

a barely 1km route advertised as a 5km run... disappointing overall. if i had known, i would not even have paid $200 for it, let alone $500++.

An overall bad experience from start to end with the runner's pack pick up location and limited bag drop quotas at the venue. Most important of all, a false advertisement to mislead all participants in believing there will be a nearly 5K running route. A 0.8K does not even come close and when you charge people at such a premium, it is the organiser's obligation to assure all event information are accurately represented.

False and misleading advertising. Poorly managed distribution of package pick-up.

I have no idea what happened while I paid $700+ for my Felix package while I see nothing but trashy decorations along the 0.82KM "run" route.

Absolutely! They even had the gall to describe it as an "electric wonderland" when it was more like a wasteland!
