Physical Therapists Opposed to OrthoNet Business Practices

How is it that the benefits patients have generously paid for all through the years are being removed, yet our premiums continue to go up? A neurologist, orthopedic surgeon or doctor is the one to determine if a patient needs Physical therapy. To deny a patient of this basic right when they already pay high premiums and fees with a PPO plan is outrageous. I along with others do not have an HMO plan but a PPO plan. We've weathered the storm's of the high premiums due to Obama care. This does not sound legal to me .

Let's stop rewarding payers for paying a "middle man" to limit patient care, taking money away from needed treatment while adding nothing to the quality of care and in fact delaying needed timely treatment, often negatively impacting outcomes!

It should be up to the doctors - NOT insurance companies to determine care for patients!

As a patient, you cannot possibly decide for me if I am in need of physical therapy. In an attempt to bring in more money to the insurance company you ironically cost the insurance company more as the patient is unable to improve their symptoms, therefore, more medical expenses to the insurance company & to the patient. I have been paying for PPO Insurance for years & you are trying to force me into an HMO yet I'm paying PPO PRICES!!!! More lawsuits coming to Anthem. Not a wise move..

Professional care simply cannot be provided to Anthem patients under the Orthonet arrangement. Sadly, everyone loses while funds and resources go to a non-provider middleman.

I understand that you are close to making a decision to approve or deny the anthem OrthoNet relationship. I want to voice my opposition as a physical therapist. OrthoNet will subject patients to delays in getting care and ration care by potentially denying care that the physical therapist and physician recommend. This relationship will make it more difficult for therapists to provide care to our patients without delays and create an extra layer of unnecessary paperwork for the provider. While this is cumbersome to the provider, it is ultimately not good for patients. Please oppose this relationship. Thank you!

I am wholeheartedly AGAINST the Orthonet / Anthem relationship! It is totally ANTI patient / customer service! STOP this relationship NOW!

If this relationship is approved it will be the worst thing for physical therapy patients, to my knowledge, in my twenty years of clinic ownership.

I oppose the proposed OrthoNet Blue Cross arrangement. It will delay care to my patients, cause excessive paperwork and create barriers to access physical therapy.

Patients deserve access to the medical services they signed up for and are paying for

Policy holders deserve better.

Their motive is to save $....and not allow experts to be experts. Consumers and Practioners MUST take a stand and say NO.

Why would the power to decide appropriate care to patients be taken away from the medical doctors and doctors of physical therapy and given to a "middle man" who only stands to gain from limiting of patient care when they have never personally seen nor spoken with the patient. The only gain in this relationship is for the insurance company. The patient, who is the most important part of this relationship, will be delayed in their care and potentially denied what extensively trained medical professionals recommend for the patient.

Stop OrthoNet in micromanaging Blue Cross Physical Therapy services

3rd party middle men suck valuable resources from both patients and clinicians while offering no added value to the patient experience. Californians are smart, value driven health care consumers, let us determine the value of PT, not a conflicted 3rd party arbitrary middleman

This is crazy. People pay for a PPO and it's turning into an HMO. People need care and a non clinician should not be deciding on PT benefits. Please oppose the initiation of ortho net and requirements for a letter of medical necessity.

Patients should get the necessary treatment to help their recovery. The medical provider who evaluated them are the better judge of the kind of treatment they should receive.

I am independent PT owner and strongly oppose the use of Orthonet as a gate keeper for how many visits my patients need to accomplish their rehab goals
