Get rid of the middlemen! Let us self regulate and allow the quality of service be how we are paid not dictated to us by the enormously powerful and profitable insurance companies.

We need to be united in achieving this very important goal

People with less education with only a certificate get paid more than a Doctor of PT. We are more regulated, require more paperwork which causes less treatment time available and as this is going on reimbursement is decreasing at a rapid rate. As the cost of living increases, so does the cost of doing business increases which forces you to have to see more patients but get the same functional outcomes. This is required for insurances, all this makes it almost impossible to keep up. Then the public is deceived by who runs their insurance plans, third party administrators taking money from PT that provide care and ultimately patients lose. Two abusers are optum rehab and align networks and ASH. The public needs to know about how their being told when and how to get PT.

Real reform is needed to allow physical therapists to deliver the value they offer to their communities AND get paid a fair wage for it!

It's difficult to keep reading media outlets tout PT as a "top" and growing profession for the future when we (as PTs) know the escalating rise in education for a clinical doctorate and the decreasing payment to the PTs who are providing the actual services. The "need" for therapy will always be there, if not increasingly so, but things are pretty disproportionate now.

I value the second opinion of a highly trained physical therapist. Please do not cut their pay so that they look for a different career path. We need skilled, trained professionals in this area.
