I don't believe that people think racism doesn't exist. They know it does, but it best for some to sweep it under the rug and be passive aggressive about it. I don't want someone discriminating against me because of the color of my skin in a polite way. F that! I want people to see "US" African American as equal. After the cartoon was made of my mom Carol Tonge on UC campus I lost all respect for my own school. In fact, I don't even tell people where I graduated from. Why acknowledge a University that doesn't acknowledge its African American student body and employees? Exactly. I support TheiRate 100% #IWillNotApologizeForBeingBlack #IWillNotApologizeForBeingDarkSkin

Injustice at any institute of higher learning affects us all, regardless of whether or not we attended an HBCU or a PWI. We are ALL standing behind you!

Associate Professor of Psychology at UC. I support The Irate 8 and student-led efforts to hold UC accountable to its mission statement: "We are committed to excellence and diversity in our students, faculty, staff, and all of our activities. We provide an inclusive environment where innovation and freedom of intellectual inquiry flourish".

While I don't agree with every component of the 10 demands ("mental evaluations" and "past misbehaviors" trigger my slippery slope Spidey sense), I fully support the overall thrust of this petition. I have been at UC for 13 years and have witnessed and participated in toothless, ultimately worthless "diversity committees" that allow administrators both to congratulate themselves and to provide symbolic cover for eventual inaction. Change comes when resources flow from people who control them to people who deserve them. My message to UC is and has been simple: hire and retain more faculty of color and admit and retain more students of color. These are not panaceas, but they are a better first step than empty rhetoric and more blue-ribbon diversity panels that have no authority to make real material change.

I'm a UC graduate class of 2007. I haven't forgotten about the time where Caution Tape had to be used for African American students and alumni during homecoming several years ago. No more racism in colleges whether physical, mental, spiritual, institutional, subliminal, and financial.

I am more than pleased with the demands that this group has for the University of Cincinnati. I feel even more proud to be a Bearcat because we have a university President and a student government President willing to work with the black students to transform the school into something that African Americans have been striving for for years now. I personally am in a scholarship program that receives funding for minority nursing students. Recently, our funds decreased significantly, which caused many of the students who relied on this funding from this scholarship program to be forced to find multiple jobs and additional scholarships. This added extensive stress to these students on top of trying to be a successful nursing student. Without programs like this, I can truly say, I would not be able to afford to go to a school like this. I have read through your 10 demands and have seen your hopes to increase funding to these types of organizations. Therefore, I appreciate you!
