I feel that all pensions, but especially military pensions should be tax exempt

I was born and brought up in Vermont. I am the only member of my family to serve in the military. I looked forward to my military retirement as I was serving, thinking it would be better than social security alone. Boy was I wrong, as the retirement and taxation of it are sometimes more than it seems it was worth. Its harder to stay in Vermont and even harder if you have a home. I no longer can even qualify to homestead credit on property taxes. Reasons to stay are getting more difficult, as my family is old enough to come visit me where ever I am, including outside of Vermont.
Every bit helps us stay, but this would go along way to saying, your wanted and thank you for serving.

I strongly believe our men and woman of the military have sacrificed enough for our country. Shame on USA for having to even consider this an option.
When Congress gives up their earnings, lifetime healthcare and astronomical retirement benefits is when we will see a landslide of funds to utilize towards the right purpose. Becoming wealthy in Congress should not be the standard, it should be illegal. Corruption being paid for by taxing our veterans. Sickening and disgusting.

Enough taxing the middle class out of house and home! Social Security shouldn't be taxed either, citizens were taxed when they initially made the money; shame on Vermont for double jeopardy taxing over and over! Stop taxing us out of Vermont! Re-organize current programs that are being abused by many, drug testing before receiving welfare etc. The future is in your hands on whether Vermont becomes a ghost state!

This needs to happen to support the soldiers who have dedicated a good portion of their life to this country. If there’s an issue with income place a maximum income on those who can receive the tax exemption

Totally agree with this bill. My wife and are seriously considering leaving VT due to high taxes ans cost of living. That will be a sad day for us. Help is due to the retired military.

I am a retired military veteran. Daily my wife and I have the discussion about selling our home and moving out of Vermont. We have actively looked at NH and Massachusetts as they both have better tax situations
For military retired. My family goes back to the early 1800's here in Vermont but Vermont just is NOT friendly to retirees.

This would go a long way to persuade military retirees to stay in the state with their pensions and properties.
