We are committed to making Sedgefield Middle School and Alexander Graham Middle School both excellent schools serving the CMS system, and support the plan presented to the school board and CMS executives on May 9th that lays out a path to achieve this goal. By zoning Eastover to Sedgefield Middle and Pinewood and Montclaire to Alexander Graham Middle, CMS will create two balanced schools that are set up for success in becoming schools of excellence. We call for CMS to implement our plan, which is the most comprehensive and best aligns with CMS objectives to alleviate overcrowding, break up concentrations of poverty, keep neighborhoods together and feeders intact, and achieve better SES balance.

Seeing 500 signatures on this petition is overwhelming because it proves how many of our neighbors want the same bright future for our children. I started this because I want our local schools to be places where every student has the resources they need to thrive. Thank you for caring about our kids as much as I do.

Seeing one hundred people sign on gives me so much hope for our kids at Sedgefield and Alexander Graham. This is a personal fight for my family and knowing our community is behind this plan makes the future look much brighter.

I have been meeting with school board members to explain exactly why this plan is the only path forward for our children. Their silence is frustrating but it only motivates me further to fight for a balanced future at both schools.

This is the only proposal on the table right now that presents a viable and long term strategy to solve for the issues cited as "goals." If we're not really serious about it, we should just do nothing.
Our family supports this plan and assumes both SMS and AG will feed to MPHS. A few year delay behind the DES/SES makes more sense than those changes happening at the same time.
I understand change and the need for all students to have access to successful schools of learning. I have reviewed the alternate plan and agree that it is more balanced.
Strongly support this as THE plan to address the goals of CMS at Sedgefield ES and Sedgefield Middle School! Spread the incentive to invest time and funds, across a broader group.
Fully support this plan but I feel like we should delay the implementation of this piece while we focus on making Sedgefield Elementary a great school. Hard to do it all at the same time!

As a parent of a 4 month old living in Sedgefield, I fully support this proposal and am looking forward to continuing to volunteer in CAMS through HEART tutoring.
