University Hills Optimist Youth Sports Programs at 401 West St Johns By sending this document, I Support UHO’s request that it be allowed to continue its Youth Sports Programs at 401 West St Johns. I believe that the programs provided by UHO are important to the well being of our Children, children who are the future leaders of our nation, state, city, business, educators, etc. The programs that UHO provides teaches our children the need for sportsmanship, team play, the development of friends, civic service, which will help make them responsible citizens of our city state and nation. UHO has acknowledge the need for a City Park in the in this area of town. They believe that a shared use of the complex with the citizens of Austin is important. UHO has never prohibited the public from using the grounds and has made attempts to involve the local community in its activities and to use the open areas of the grounds as allowed by their contract with the Parks and Recreation Department. We understand that UHO has submitted information to various city officials suggesting ways that increased open area could be developed thus leaving additional space for Public use outside the sports fields.
