The fact that it's come to this point has implications for civil unrest in our homeland and there's no reason to go that route. There's no greater good here. There's no war to be fought. Our freedom is being challenged by individuals who think their opinion is more important than everyone else's. This is no longer a democracy. These are dangerous times.

This is unfair according to any set of ethics excluding those that serve as a basis for a totalitarian regime. An individual can feel any type of feeling we have knowledge of without valid reason for that fear. I can feel scared for my life without having any reason to. Someone can say 'hi' in a manner that I dislike and as a consequence I feel harassed, however that does not qualify 'hi' as harassment. If we allow subjective feeling to dictate what is and is not a crime we will soon have a system which convicts people for the most absurd reasons, for humans have the most absurd reactions to the most meaningless things. As Adlai E. Stevenson II said: "“My definition of a free society is a society where it is safe to be unpopular.”

Give this man his freedom back.

Freedom of speech is a basic human right, and daring to publically disagree with someone seems to be a basic part of free speech. remember also: "Ab abusu ad usum non valet consequentia" which is to say that the consequences of abuse do not apply to general use (rights abused by some are still rights).

I can't believe this is happening in Canada, using the legal system to shut down criticism... we're suppose to be better than this!

This is an abuse of the Canadian court system by an organized group to shame and ruin this man over tweets. This story sounds completely Orwellian.

This is a shocking sign of the times. These women are a shameful example of the modern girls idea that she should be pandered to and agreed with. They are lying and awful people with God complexes created by their sexist little "safe spaces" and "echo chambers". He is an innocent man and they are vindictive, immature girls playing at being important.

I guess disagreeing with feminists is now going to be illegal, huh? Gregory Elliot, a graphic designer, was fired from his job and is facing jail time for up to six months for allegedly "harassing" women online. But, in actuality, he has not done anything, but disagrees with the actions of Stephanie Guthrie and Heather Reilly of cyber-bullying creator of "Beat Up Anita Sarkeesian" game, Ben Spurr. Their actions include getting their online followers to harass him online through all social media, contacting employers in hopes of forcing him out of vocations, and revealing personal information online like his phone number, personal address, and friends. I find this lawsuit to be utter drivel. If Elliot is convicted, this sets the standard that to claim you feel threatened online without evidence of malice or intent is enough to charge of criminal harassment. When did disagreeing with feminists become harassment? Please sign this petition to support Elliot from this deranged accusation against him.

I'm disgusted that I live in a country with a legal system that's so willing to unjustly drag this man's life through the mud over such a nonsensical reason. Why are there no charges brought against Guthrie for calling on an internet mob to attack the personal life of another person? Is that not harrassment? Is that not criminal activity under the law? Or is Guthrie given her free pass for being a feminist? Hypocracy!

I can certainly understand what Greg is going through. I am faced with a very similar situation in the Kingston Provincial Courts with trial set for November. I have had to deal with being denied legal aid for nine months because the Crown would not specify what they were asking for in terms of jail time (5 months), Frontenac OPP tampering with evidence (claimed it was lost and arresting officer contacting me twice to send him all the documentation again, while also claiming he knew claimant was lying) , as well as the claimant making false statements to police. Frontenac OPP has covered up for her in the past and continues to do so even when verifiable proof has been shown to them. So, as I said I do understand the stress and aggravation Greg and his family are presented with and I wish him the best of luck.
