I support a "Traditional" School Calendar in District 225 that doesn't start school earlier in the summer.

Later start with our summers being so short, our kids are not getting enough time to spend outdoors as it is, start closer to Labor Day, end later. Summers don't begin in Chicago till later anyhow!

I'm a student at this district though I agree with finals before winter break I can not agree with ending my summer sooner. Younger children shouldn't have to follow a college calendar

BAD idea to change. Start after Labor day, but for this area, there is nothing about this move that makes sense at all.

I agree with all the reasons to NOT change the school calendar schedule. I also agree that if there is a need to change it should be to start after Labor Day!!!!!

Why can't we just change it for the High School and not effect the younger grades? The concern is to accommodate Finals, which don't effect the other school.s GBS and GBN can change, but leave the other schools' calendars the same.

I do not support the change to the collegiate schedule. As others have explained, younger k-8 children would especially be adversely affected by the change in my view. I didn't see a lack of focus in the end of the year post May as the other side has mentioned, but I can guaranty my children and others would not be able to adequately focus in August when it is 90 degrees and summer outside. Kids need time to be with their families and be outside. If anything, go back to the post Labor Day start like we used to have. This petition is not addressing the start time, but while we are at it, starting school for some children at 7:50 based on the bus schedule is ridiculous and not healthy. Let the public schools have their own buses so that we can have a reasonable start time.

I oppose getting out early and starting early. Starting one week before or near Labor Day would be best. Supporting the traditional summer break.

I support the traditional school calendar.

Living in a climate like Chicago’s, July and August provide some of the best weather for children to be children outdoors. The benefits of unstructured outdoor time is invaluable. By continuing to start the school year earlier and earlier, we take these opportunities away from our kids.

Students and families need to be able to enjoy summer together and re charge not have to return to school.

This is ridiculous to make this change so late and mess up all family plans!

Keep Tradionional school calender! No way collegiate calendar !!!!

Starting the school year earlier will affect those families who are transporting and/or otherwise transitioning their college students at the same time as their younger school aged children. I oppose.

This is absolutely the wrong thing to do with our high school children. Shame on you Mr. Riggle for saying that you do not have the resources to reach all the Northbrook families with children. I am pretty sure all it would take would be for you, the superintendent to email the various school district superintendents and ask them to disseminate the information to their students families. Let our kids be kids, our kids will be in college soon enough.

This change interferes with family vacation time in August when we actually have warm weather in the Midwest!

Bad idea- keep the schedule the same or even start after Labor Day like CPS. And while you're at it- I'm in favor of starting school later and ending later. Studies showing kids learn better with more sleep in the am.
