I support a "Traditional" School Calendar in District 225 that doesn't start school earlier in the summer.

Please do not change the start date of school to an earlier day in Aug. I am in agreement of moving finals before winter break.

My current high school student also prefers to have finals after winter break

Other calendar solutions are available , which other schools in the area are already using.

Changing the school schedule is much more damaging than helpful to students.

Let’s keep Summer break during the Summer and find another solution for wrapping up finals before Winter break.

Moving finals to before break will completely eliminate student-cherished activities and clubs, such as the extracurricular choir Chamber Singers. The holiday season would be stricken with finals and the choir would probably be disbanded. In addition, many students use winter break as a time to study for finals instead of packing it into their school week.

This proposed change will negatively impact family vacations, spring sports (such as baseball), and other areas.

Starting school mid-August would be torture for the kids. Bad enough that it starts before Labor Day.

I would perfer an even later start date in August then it does today.

I think there are better solutions and would like to maintain a summer break for the kids.

I do not support starting the District 225 school year any earlier than it currently is scheduled. And after Labor Day would be ideal!

This is not a good thing for the students. There is no good reason to move the schedule. Matching the college schedule will make it impossible to start kids at high school and college at the same time. This is wrong on so many levels.

I would like to explore the calendar deployed in the Naperville schools. Exams are given before the winter break, but the semester doesn't end until mid-January. Most classes continue through the year, so the impact of having a course that is 1 - 2 weeks shorter during one of the terms is minimal. You could name it something slightly different to capture the fact that a different amount material is covered in each version (short vs. long) of the course.
