Make The Rec Center Climbing Gym Big Enough

Please take into consideration Jackson's surging population in building a climbing gym for our community. Also, based off the known history of climbing in this valley, to construct something that will exceed its max capacity in the very near future seems ill advised and a little tone deaf to its long-term success. Thanks for your time, Jeff Burke

Please make a climbing gym that can accommodate the large number of climbers in this fast growing community.

This vibrant climbing community deserves a gym large enough to support the population.

10,000 SF may not be enough but the amount talked about certainly would fall incredible short of what the community needs now and looking into the future!

As the mother of a small child, I can speak to how important indoor recreation spaces are - especially in the winter. It would be great to have a gym large enough to accommodate a variety of users (from small children to experienced athletes and climbers). It would be a community hub. I would appreciate your consideration of a larger space.

This would be a tremendous addition to the community but needs to be big enough to effectively serve the community effectively!

It’s much easier to do something right the first time...

Dear Teton County, As you know, the Jackson, WY and Teton County climbing community is large, and make up a big part of this community. As you are are also aware, the exorbitant cost of land and building has prevented this community from having a viable training facility for climbing for a while now. The facility is much needed and the community has only grown since the last climbing gym existed. I urge you to think forward and build a climbing gym facility that is larger than your current plan. Not only will this provide enough space for all in the community, but it will also allow for growth over time. I assure you the extra space will prove to be more important to the function and vitality of the gym now and into the future. Considering our last gym was 10,000 square feet, I think you should consider nothing short of that square footage to accommodate current need, and hopefully accommodate some growth over time. Thank you for your consideration. Sincerely, Jessica Baker

Let’s follow the TCC’s vision and create a climbing gym for people of all ages and abilities. We have the opportunity to create the climbing cultural hub of Jackson that would support continuing education, best practices, social gatherings, training, and growth for the next generation.

A bigger gym would allow all the Jackson residents to be able to climb in the long winter months!

Most definitely is necessary I’m a country employee that believes it will be very beneficial to the community to have a bigger gym. Also I think there should be a fun raiser to help with the cost.

Please, climbing is a fast growing popular sport. It fills a void for kids not served by team sports. It's low cost makes it inclusive for most socio-economic groups. It is a sport that can be enjoyed equally for all ages, genders for a lifetime. It also influences health eating and habits. Thanks

A climbing gym is wanted and needed in our mountain town community. It will be highly utilized and by more than expected once it is built.

Climbing is a vital part of Jackson’s history. Please support the professionals and recreational climbers who add so much to Jackson with a training facility for our incredible mountains.

Please plan for the future and expand the climbing facility. The opportunities it will offer the community - especially rec and competitive youth programs - are worth the investment now.

Without a properly sized climbing gym the community would be spending precious tax payer dollars and using valuable resources to build a asset that would be essentially be under serving the community from day one of opening its doors. Do it right the first time!
